EuroCC@Greece announced the 1st Course of its brand new HPC Training Series with the subject “HPC for beginners: basic concepts, MPI and OpenMP”, which took place on March 29th, 2024.

Presentation language: Greek

Audience: Users (with a focus on engineers, developers, IT professionals, students, researchers) seeking to understand the basics of how parallel computing technologies MPI and OpenMP can improve the performance of their code.

Location: Online via Zoom

During the course, the following concepts were tackled:

• Short history and general concepts of HPC & AI
• Introduction to OpenMP, shared parallel model, basic constructs
• Introduction to MPI (Message Programming Interface) / General concepts: Distributed memory parallelism, MPI process model, Global communication, Point-to-point communication, Non-blocking point-to-point communication
