EuroCC@Greece, in collaboration with NCCs Cyprus, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain, announces the 17th Course of HPC Training Series with the subject “LLM Applications Across Domains: Use Cases from the Mediterranean NCCs”, taking place online on November 10th, 2025.
Presentation language: English
Audience: Suitable for professionals, researchers, academics, students or other stakeholders interested in large-language model applications across domains.
Location: Online via Zoom
This course features a series of presentations by various National Competence Centres (NCCs) in the Mediterranean region, showcasing practical use-cases of large language models (LLMs) across different domains. Topics include secure enterprise AI chatbots (“Vectoria” by NCC Italy), fine-tuning LLMs for satellite communications knowledge management (NCC Greece), AI agents and LLMs for cyber defence (NCC Slovenia), LLM-steerable computer vision pipelines (NCC Slovenia), archaeological site detection using vision + LLM techniques (NCC Portugal), and enhancing OCR pipelines with LLMs (NCC Cyprus) — followed by a Q&A/open discussion.
Learning Objectives:
- Gain insight into how LLMs are being applied in real-world, domain-specific contexts across multiple sectors (industry, public sector, research).
- Understand challenges and strategies in adapting large models (e.g., fine-tuning, quantization, retrieval-augmented generation) for specialised fields such as satellite communications and cybersecurity.
- Learn about multimodal pipelines combining vision, language, and domain-specific data (e.g., archaeological imagery, OCR).
- Explore governance, security and infrastructure considerations of deploying AI/LLM solutions (e.g., enterprise-internal AI vs cloud dependencies).
- Engage with peer experts via discussion and Q&A to reflect on opportunities and obstacles in LLM adoption across domains.
Learning Outcome:
- Describe multiple real-world case studies of LLM applications across diverse domains and reflect on their relevance to their own domain/organisation.
- Identify key technical and organisational challenges in deploying LLM-based solutions (such as data handling, model fine-tuning, quantization, domain-specific corpus construction).
- Recognise how multimodal AI pipelines (vision + language) and domain knowledge can be integrated for high-impact use-cases.
- Formulate ideas for how LLMs (or AI agents) might be responsibly and securely adopted within their own domain, including considerations of data governance and infrastructure.
- Feel confident to engage in dialogue or collaborate with HPC/AI competence centres or AI providers about LLM deployment in their context.
